Komal Deepak Kumar is a Fertility Specialist Dietitian with experience in running andrology and women’s health clinics. Komal has 15 years experience as a dietitian in different specialities such as endocrinology, gastroenterology, bariatrics, paediatrics and oncology, which gives an all rounded approach to her dietetic treatments.
Komal Deepak Kumar has worked in India and UK. Hence, understands the importance of adapting dietetic principles to ethnicity. Komal currently serves as the Chair of Maternal and Fertility Nutrition Specialist Group at British Dietetic Association. Komal said ” It’s more important than ever for dietitians to get into this space – with the increasing burden of infertility and complex pregnancies impacting the welfare of the the next generation”.
Komal’s highlights of her contributions in the space to date are “Being involved in drafting pregnancy and male fertility fact sheets, responses to Public health England, NICE consultations and liasing with Human Fertilisation and Embryology Committee (HFEA). She has publications and presentation towards highlighting importance and impact of dietetic involvement in infertility and endometriosis”.
Komal Deepak Kumar aims to help streamline preconception and fertility care and facilitate timely evidence based dietetic for patients with infertility. She has contributed towards the development of patient resources for Pregnancy and Male fertility at the BDA and has contributed towards guidelines for weight management for women with infertility with Practice Evidence in Nutrition (PEN).
Komal Deepak Kumar is also part of a pilot study in Association with University of Plymouth on understanding functional gut symptoms in Endometriosis.
